Wildpower

@plus4art is pleased to present Wildpower by Jennifer Lord and Noah Travis Phillips

This specific iteration of the Wildpower exhibition is part of a continuing dialogue about the marks (that only) the hand can make and how they manifest in digital spaces. This iteration of the project also works as a rehearsal for a handful of display concepts including display tables and video projection over images hung on the wall.
Wildpower is an exploration and expression of natural phenomenon. The work of Lord & Phillips develops according to ecological principles; some “species” of image flourish and reproduce, others may only exist in very particular niches. Motifs recur and evolve. The pictures are grown from themes of wilderness: mountains, (extreme) weather, flora & fauna, etc.

The subject matter and materials are familiar, yet reimagined in colorful, mysterious and compelling ways.
The works on display are fresh in material and approach. The videos and ecotones of grouped images are charged with esotericism and wild, uncontrolled fecundity.
The assemblages of images and videos are grown from the same material, to strongly contrasting effect – an intense and provoking atmosphere is created.

The works are paintings, a fascinating and perennial questioned form – how does painting/drawing still effectively depict the epic sublimity of the world?
